Unsere zweiwöchige Lodgesafari „Mosambique & Krüger – Beach and Bush“ mit Sunway war eine außergewöhnliche Reise. Die Route war unglaublich abwechslungsreich und bot die perfekte Kombination aus faszinierenden Tiersafaris, Einblicken in das urbane Leben Afrikas und traumhaften, menschenleeren, paradiesischen Stränden am Meer. Natürlich legt man viele Kilometer zurück und verbringt auch viel Zeit im Truck – unserem liebevoll „Red Elephant“ genannten Fahrzeug –, aber genau das macht diese Reise so besonders: Da man sich um nichts kümmern und nicht selbst fahren muss, kann man die Landschaft, die Tierwelt und das Leben entlang der Strecke in Ruhe beobachten und auf sich wirken lassen. Ja, manche Etappen sind lang und holprig, aber genau dadurch erlebt man beide Länder intensiv und bekommt Eindrücke, die einem sonst verborgen bleiben würden. Man erlebt Südafrika und Mosambik auf faszinierende Weise, bekommt unglaublich viel von Land und Menschen mit, sieht das echte Afrika in all seinen Facetten und hat gleichzeitig genügend Zeit zum Baden und Schnorcheln an traumhaften Küsten. Die Unterkünfte waren überwiegend wunderschön gelegen und haben das Safari-Erlebnis perfekt ergänzt. Generell sollte man sich jedoch bewusst sein, dass es sich nicht um einen Erholungsurlaub handelt, sondern um eine aktive Reise mit frühen Aufstehzeiten und der Bereitschaft, mit anzupacken. Ein riesiges Dankeschön geht an unseren Guide Dickson Chisema. Er hat diese Reise zu einer absolut einzigartigen Erfahrung gemacht. Vom ersten bis zum letzten Tag war alles perfekt organisiert. Er hat jederzeit transparent erklärt, was uns erwartet, war offen, herzlich, humorvoll und immer voller Lebensfreude. Besonders seine afrikanischen Wurzeln und seine authentische Art haben uns Land, Kultur und Menschen auf eine Weise nähergebracht, wie wir sie mit einer deutschen Reiseleitung niemals hätten erleben können. Seine Begeisterung, seine Herzlichkeit und sein gelebtes Wissen haben diese Reise maßgeblich geprägt und sie zu etwas ganz Besonderem gemacht. Besonders beeindruckt hat uns auch sein enormes Wissen über die Tierwelt sowie über das Leben, die Traditionen und den Alltag der Menschen vor Ort. Jede Safari wurde dadurch unglaublich spannend und lehrreich. Dazu kommt, dass Dickson ein hervorragender Koch ist: Jeden Tag wurden wir mit frischen, abwechslungsreichen Gerichten verwöhnt – eine perfekte Mischung aus westlicher Küche und authentischen afrikanischen Spezialitäten. Wir haben uns jederzeit rundum wohl und bestens versorgt gefühlt. Diese Reise hat uns unzählige besondere Momente geschenkt und wird uns noch lange in Erinnerung bleiben. Vielen Dank an Sunway für diese tolle Tour aber vor allem an Dickson, der mit seiner Herzlichkeit, seiner Lebensfreude, seinem Wissen und seiner Leidenschaft einen riesigen Anteil daran hatte. Eine absolute Empfehlung! Eine Bemerkung zum Schluss: Wer das ursprüngliche Afrika noch intensiver und hautnäher erleben möchte, sollte unbedingt eine Zeltsafari buchen. Man sollte sich allerdings bewusst sein, dass sie deutlich anspruchsvoller ist und viel mehr Mithilfe aller Gäste erfordert als eine Lodgesafari. Dafür wird man mit einem unvergleichlich intensiven Naturerlebnis belohnt – näher kann man Afrika kaum erleben.

Went with Sunways on a two week safari through Botswana into Zambia. From the first e mail enquiry to the final goodbye, the company was efficient and helpful. As a single woman of a certain age, I always felt safe and very well looked after. Food was very good and plentiful and the game drives were brilliant and highly successful. Cannot recommend our guides highly enough. If in doubt...go for it. You won't regret it!

If we could give Sunway Safaris more than five stars, we would. There simply aren’t enough superlatives in the English language to do justice to this incredible 21-day journey from Cape Town to Victoria Falls. The trip was led by the outstanding Iton and Sipho, who were so much more than guides and drivers. They were mechanics, chefs, problem-solvers, therapists, photographers, entertainers, friends and, above all, exceptional people who made every single day unforgettable. Their knowledge, professionalism, humour and genuine care for everyone on the trip were second to none. Sunway Safaris has perfected the balance between affordability and comfort. As someone who avoids camping at all costs, and I was concerned this would impact the true African experience, I can honestly say the accommodated option exceeded every expectation. It made an adventure like this accessible without losing any of the authenticity that makes overlanding so special. Travelling overland rather than flying allowed us to experience the true essence of Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe. Every changing landscape, every incredible wildlife encounter, every sunset and every small village became part of the story. You don’t just visit these countries, you experience them in their purest and most beautiful form. Since returning home, we’ve been trying to get our feet back on the ground, but the truth is we don’t really want that feeling to end. This wasn’t just a holiday; it was one of the most extraordinary experiences of our lives, filled with memories and friendships that will stay with us forever. Thank you, Sunway Safaris, and especially Iton and Sipho, for an adventure we’ll never forget. We would recommend this trip to anyone without hesitation.

Tour: BT14 Botswana Wildside Without a doubt one of the very best things I've ever done! The whole wild camping experience was fantastic from start to finish, made all the more enjoyable by the wonderful group of people I shared this incredible tour with. The wildlife encounters we had were amazing - I'm still stunned by the hundreds of photos I took along the way. The knowledge of the local guides meant we were learning all the time about the animals we saw and the landscape we were exploring....and the hard work and enthusiasm of Duncan, Solly and of course Ayi from the Sunway team made the two weeks we had together feel like the trip of a lifetime. Would I recommend this tour to other people? Definitely. Would I do it all again? Without a doubt! All in all an unforgettable introduction to the sights and sounds of wild Botswana. I can't wait to go back.....

We greatly enjoyed the Baobab tour through Botswana to VicFalls. Perfectly organized, wonderful guides and an experience we‘ll never forget. Would def recommend!
